AZ-HI-AZ-I-AM Team Rider Dan Hart has been re-habbing his leg after breaking it (IN 5 PLACES!) in Mexico six month ago. Danny had to have emergency surgery in a Mexican hospital and landed steel plates in his leg for the rest of his life. A pretty heavy situation and a remarkable come back! A few years ago we were driving up the coast and saw a huge lump of swell on the horizon, we pulled the car over and turned on the camera just as this massive Rogue wave slammed into an uncharted reef. We posted the video five months ago on youtube.com and it has just hit 100,000 views as of June 6th 2008. The footage is being called one of the only REAL rogue waves to ever be cought on tape!

The Az-hi-az-I-aM Air show and One Way Board shop surf series went off at the Point in Ventura California on Jan 20th 2008. The sun was out all day and the waves were a "Contestable" 2-4ft with long, clean lines. Bobby Morris won the AzhiaziaM Air Show (joining the ranks of previous Azhi Air show winners Cory Arrambide, Adam Virs, Nate Tyler, Christian Enns, Dustin Ray etc..) Taking home the One Way Board shop win today was Local hero Adam Virs, and winning the overall points ratiings for the entire 4 contest series was Lompoc's Pete Mussio.

Dustin Ray locked and loaded in his back yard. Dusitn usually has to paddle surf this trecherous spot (See this weeks D-Ray's Corner on the right) but on this day his arm's took a break and he got whipped into some of the best waves of his life!! To see what happens next click HERE!

Professional Surfer Chris Ward (far right) arrested in Mammoth Lakes on three felony assault with a deadly weapon charges. The rumor mill is spinning non-stop and here is some of the stuff that is circulating. We know Chris and hope that he and the other men and women involved in the altercation have a speedy recovery.

THE OFFICIAL SCOOP:

According to the Mammoth County Police Department, last year's world number 17 surfer, Chris Ward, was arrested outside of the Whiskey Creek Bar on January 7 in Mammoth, CA on charges of "assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm" after an alleged altercation with three women turned into a full-scale fight. The event in question occurred around 2 a.m. as the bar was shutting down. According to Whiskey Creek's bar manager, Jake Wallace, the event was "really disturbing." Wallace followed by stating, “I've seen a lot fights working here, but nothing like this.” Ward was arrested following the incident.

Ward strongly denies the allegations. According to Ward, "This whole event has gotten out of hand. I've never hit a woman. I was jumped by a bunch of people, and this has become a big misunderstanding. I should be the one pressing charges."

The women involved in the altercation have not been available for comment.
